Drama

At the heart of the FCHS Performing Arts Department’s ethos is a belief in the benefits of performance for our students. Throughout the academic year, not only do our students learn many aspects of drama in their lessons but there are many performances to live audiences at the school and in other venues in the community.

As well as generating lots of opportunity for drama performance, we are keen to explore and hone any dramatic talents our students may have. Enjoyment and the development of speaking, stagecraft and characterisation are just a few important aspects of drama that we study at FCHS and our classes strive to develop these technical skills in all our students. However, we also want to stretch our students intellectually as well as artistically during their time with us and they will study theatrical practitioners and styles in addition to the history of theatre.

Since its implementation two years ago, drama has become an extremely popular and important area of the curriculum for the students at FCHS. Many students choose to study it at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, and the lessons at Key Stage 3 are thoroughly enjoyed by the boys. It is the policy of the department to achieve ever higher standards of creative education and to develop a lifelong love of the subject.
