Sixth Form

Finchley Catholic High School Sixth Form is a vibrant community of over 300 students. The majority are students who have chosen to return to FCH following their GCSEs; however we also welcome students (male and female) who have completed their GCSEs elsewhere.

We offer many courses both at A-level and BTEC, which cater for a range of choices and abilities.  We welcome students who are committed to achieving their personal best; those whose approach and motivation allows them to use their time well   Our Sixth Form is not just about depth, but breadth, and we aim to help you fulfil your potential both spiritually and academically.

Housed in a new building, funded entirely by our community (news report here), we provide the Sixth Form with a high level of support, from supervised study sessions to personal academic mentoring, and an excellent range of facilities and resources.  Our Sixth Form Centre shares the same building as the careers department and a dedicated study room equipped with computers; there is also wi-fi access for all students bringing in their own devices. In addition, there is also a university style common room for relaxing and a food-cube for when students are hungry.

The traditions and values of our school permeate across all aspects of our provision, from Year 7 to Year 13. Sixth Form students play a unique and valuable role in the school, contributing actively to the wider life of the school community.  They arrange and run events with younger students, demonstrating tremendous leadership and motivation, such as International Day and the Student Revue.

We encourage all Sixth Form students to participate in enrichment activities that develop personal skills and there is a very robust Work Shadowing and UCAS programme which helps them prepare for Higher Education and/or the workplace.

The Sixth Form is a step-up from GCSE school style sessions and aims to instil a  pre-University style culture with extremely high expectations and challenges, but equally high rewards at the end.  It probably constitutes the best days of school at FCHS for many students.

We look forward to welcoming you to FCHS.
