On Thursday 30th June, eight Year 12 pupils represented the Business Studies department and took part in the Brent Cross Retail Challenge.
This was a challenging programme where pupils visited two contrasting retail settings: Fenwick and Leon. They then had to create and pitch a presentation on a suitable financial strategy, demonstrating an endless list of transferable skills. Due to the current global economic climate, where demand is low and retailers face challenges such as price competition from the internet, their objective was to create a suitable financial strategy.
The Finchley students had to pitch their strategy to an independent judging panel, and were up against four other local Barnet schools. Our Sixth Form students came out victorious, as they met the demands of this exciting challenge. The judging panel was impressed with the students giving really positive feedback. For our students this was an invaluable opportunity to gain inspiration from the retail industry and all of them thoroughly enjoyed the day. The pupils involved were Chiara Covelluzzi, Aaron Kelly, Simone Gallo, Jasmine Hender, Darren Costello, Nikita Wynne and Javier Guileen Torres. The team of students were expertly lead by Mr Twomey. Massive congratulations to all involved.
