The course is assessed by three exams at the end of the second year of study.

Paper 1 comprises of content from Themes 1 and 4, and is assessed by data response and extended essay questions within a local, national or global context. This is worth 35% of the overall grade.

Paper 2 comprises of content from Themes 2 and 3, and is assessed by data response and extended essay questions within a local, national or global context. This is worth 35% of the overall grade.

Paper 3 is synoptic in nature, and uses an industry set out in a pre-release case study to review knowledge spanning all themes. This is worth 30% of the overall grade.
