The Cambridge Nationals are vocational qualifications and are designed to offer the same size, rigour and performance points as GCSEs.

What will I learn?

Good use of Information Technology is an essential part of any successful business. It enables creative and collaborative working, solving of problems and use of the best techniques and technologies to communicate meaningful information which meets customers’ needs. This qualification will raise your confidence in using a wide range of computer software from Image Editing Software like Photoshop to software more associated with business use such as Spreadsheet. You will also have to learn a wide array of IT topics such as networking and legislation involved with IT.

How will I be assessed?

  • An externally assessed 1 hour 45 minute exam worth 50% of your final grade.
  • An internally assessed computer project where you will have to use a variety of software to solve a problem, also worth 50% of your final grade.

What can I do after I’ve done the course?

This could be the first step towards careers in system analysis, website development, application development or network management. Beyond that, strong ICT skills can help with almost all careers, especially those in the business world where nearly everyone has to use IT in some form or another.
