Time Allocation: Students study Maths for three 1 hour lessons per week in each of Year 7 and Year 8.

Grouping: Year 7 will be taught Maths in their form groups for the first two/three weeks of the autumn term and after an internal assessment, they are reallocated into sets. Movement between sets can take place at the end of each term.

Course Content: During KS3, students will develop their understanding of the main concepts that underpin the study of mathematics, as well as learn the processes which are essential to enable progress to be made. Problem solving and applications to the real world will be prevalent throughout. The content which will be covered is as follows:

Formal Assessment: Tests will take place at the end of each half term and these will be used to determine set movements.

Homework: One piece of homework is set for year 7 and two pieces are set for year 8 each week – usually one written piece of work and one online task.
