P.E. (Health & Fitness)

Time Allocation
Students will be allocated one session for 1 hour per week.

Course Content
Students will take part in one of the following activities on a 9 week rotation:  Football, Basketball, Handball, Fitness, and Table Tennis. Pupils select a sport to participate in which allows the highest possible participation rate and pupils being active.

Formative Assessment
Students will be regularly assessed in the form of fitness tests. These tests will happen every 9 weeks in the form of a 12-minute cooper run or basketball specific adapted cooper run.  This assesses the aerobic capacity and cardiovascular health of pupils.

What you will get out of following the PE: Health and Fitness course
This course aims to improve the understanding of all students of how to maintain and lead a healthy lifestyle. It provides the opportunity for students of sporting abilities to enjoy sport and analyse the effects of an active lifestyle on their health and well-being.  A further target of the PE department is to encourage and inspire pupils to find a love for a sport that they will continue to participate in after school life and beyond.
