Curriculum Overview

In designing our curriculum, we seek to provide students with an education which is broad, balanced, relevant and challenging.

We operate within the framework of the national guidelines but extend our learning and teaching even further to reflect our distinct Catholic mission and ethos which is outlined in our non-negotiable curriculum principles below. Our curriculum is ambitious and designed to give all learners the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. This wealth of substantive and disciplinary knowledge available to our young people is coherently planned and sequenced towards cumulative sufficiency in order to secure their futures and become life-long learners who shine in God’s light.

Curriculum Principles:

Our curriculum is ambitious and designed to give all learners the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. It is coherently planned and sequenced towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge and skills for future learning and employment.

  • Our Catholic faith is at the heart of the lessons we teach. We are helping to form citizens of the future to be kind, respectful, empathetic, responsible, knowledgeable, hard-working and moral.
  • We share a common desire to inspire and motivate our students.
  • Our planning will enable outstanding high quality teaching and learning opportunities in the classroom.
  • We are committed to inclusivity, diversity and equality of opportunity for all students.
  • We have high expectations of all students and will challenge them to go beyond finding the right answer and think critically.
  • Our progressive curriculum will develop resilient learners with the literacy skills to succeed both at school and beyond.
  • It has relevance for the mid-21st Century world in which our students will be living and working.
  • Our students will be provided with many opportunities to reflect upon their learning and feed back to their teachers.
  • Academic integrity will underpin our curriculum planning.

Curriculum Booklets

We invite you to spend some time reading our comprehensive curriculum booklets which outline the course of study each subject offers; along with guidance and support of how parents/carers can engage and assist with their child's learning.
