The final of the Yr 7 poetry recital competition took place yesterday (Monday 6th July). A range of poetry from Auden to Shakespeare was complemented by some fantastic musical performances. All nineteen participants are to be commended for their excellent delivery and impressive feats of memory.
After much deliberation from the judges, Daniel Mangan was declared overall winner thanks to a rousing performance of 'Invictus' by William Ernest Henley. Callum Burden was in second place with a controlled recital of ee cummings', 'Maggie, Molly, Milly and May' and Raphael Uribe was third with William Blake's 'TheTyger'. Matthew Scholand and Oisin McGinley were highly commended.
Many thanks to Ms Leaver and the music department for providing such a fantastic opportunity for the pupils.
