Peter Keenan Library

The library is the beating heart of the school.  It is a safe space for our school community.

Our aims are to promote the benefits of reading for pleasure, and to support study, research and enquiry to enable everyone to achieve their goals and become life-long learners. The library is staffed by a full-time professional chartered librarian and is available for all year groups.

Opening Hours

Monday and Friday: 8.30 am to 4:00 pm

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8.00 am to 4:00 pm


  • The library has a range of fiction, manga, graphic novels, revision guides, reference material and non-fiction books designed to support the curriculum and allow students to develop their wider interests.
  • We subscribe to newspaper, magazines and specialist resources.
  • We provide recommended reading lists for all year groups. They can be found at the bottom of this page 

Library Catalogue

The library catalogue is available online to students who have their own username and password to access the catalogue and view the library’s latest resources or make reservations.

The library offers a number of volunteering opportunities through the Duke of Edinburgh Award. For more details please speak to the Librarian, Mrs P Shah.


The library organizes a number of events through the year including Carnegie Shadowing and author visits to the school.  The Yoto Carnegie Medal is awarded annually to the writer of an outstanding book for children.  If you would like more information on the winner and shortlist please visit the website:

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is an online library of free E-Books. The eBooks in the Project Gutenberg collection are freely offered to readers for their enjoyment, enlightenment, education, and entertainment. The collection includes eBooks on many topics. There is emphasis on literary works and reference items of historical significance, especially titles that are out of print.
