As the summer term draws to a close, so too does another incredibly busy and productive academic year. This year has seen a wide range of important academic milestones: Year 11 and Year 13 students have completed their public examinations, while all other Year groups have taken part in internal exams and assessments. At the time of writing, Year 12 students are engaged in work shadowing placements, and Year 10 students have successfully completed their Work Experience - feedback from employers has been overwhelmingly positive and reflects the maturity and professionalism of our students. In addition to academic pursuits, our students have taken part in a vibrant programme of enrichment and extra-curricular activities. They have included activity days featuring trips to the Tower of London, Greenwich, The British Museum, The Design Museum, The National Gallery as well as art, technology and Performing Arts workshops alongside sessions focused on drug awareness and gender equality. We have also enjoyed Sports Days, charity awareness workshops, a Spelling Bee, our annual Sports Awards Evening and Summer Fayre as well as all of Year 9 experiencing Gilwell for a week. Via Induction days , we have welcomed our prospective Year 7 and Year 12 students, and have hosted information evenings for families in Year 10 and prospective Year 7. All of this has taken place alongside our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality learning opportunities on a daily basis. I hope this edition of The Albanian captures the breadth and depth of what makes our school community so special and offers a glimpse into the many successes of this academic year. I would like to thank all our students and their families for the outstanding support shown throughout the year- particularly with fundraising efforts. Our community has raised close to £20,000 this year for charitable causes thought a range of activities such as a sleep out, sponsored walks and runs, a stay awake challenge, brave the shave and many other creative events supporting our young people to undertake acts of charity for the benefit of others. Thank you for making this possible. Of course, none of these achievements would be possible without the tireless commitment and generosity of our exceptional staff. I am sincerely grateful to my colleagues for the time, expertise, and passion they bring to ensuring the best possible experiences and outcomes for our young people. Building work on our new Sports hall continues at a rapid pace as you will see from the photo here. We expect work to be completed in early October , allowing the school community to begin to enjoy the benefits of this resource in the autumn term. Thank you again to all of our parents and carers for your ongoing support and cooperation. We very much appreciate and value our partnership, working for the benefit of our young people. Please note that Years 7 and 12 begin their new term on September 3rd and all Year groups return on September 4th . Have a safe and enjoyable summer break.
Kind regards Niamh Arnull
